Portfolio Notes is an independent reference on crypto portfolio measurement. It explains how the numbers on a portfolio screen are produced, so that a figure you are shown can be checked rather than merely accepted.
What it covers
How profit is worked out and which cost method is being used. How holdings are consolidated across exchanges and self-custody wallets. Where prices come from and why sources disagree. What allocation and performance views actually measure. And why portfolio totals stop matching what a venue reports.
What it deliberately does not do
- It does not host files, run code, or accept accounts, funds or keys.
- It does not ask for credentials, wallet addresses or recovery phrases.
- It does not connect to exchanges or read from them.
- It does not sell anything and it does not take referrals.
Why it exists
Most disagreement about portfolio figures is not about arithmetic. It is about whether two people are using the same holdings, the same moment and the same price source. Explaining the inputs is enough for most people to check a figure themselves.
Limits
This is general reference material on measurement, not investment advice and not a recommendation to hold, sell or do anything. Nothing here indicates what any asset is worth.
